Kremlin Evening Gown Sketches

I just finishes the sketch form my Soviet-inspired evening gown. I also sketched and created a hat and an evening bag to go with it. I have to still add a background and do the flats. This was inspired by all the things I posted and also because i had just seen my friend Aliosha. Hanging out with him is always inspirational.

Here is my girl through the process...

It took forever to create the camouflage chiffon for the skirt... There is gold laurel leaf embroidery on the collar and red sequins on the epaulettes and the red stars that run diagonally on the khaki silk velvet bodice and arrive to the hammer and sickle also embroidered in gold sequins.

I also had to figure out how to render the persian lamb fur on the hat...

It was really hard to get the sheerness and transparency just right with the camo..There are also gold buttons on the bodice...

I created a matrioshka evening bag on a silk chord to complete the look...

Here she is up close...

I hope you like her....

I love her to bits....

Oh, that's super-awesome. I love the way you managed to incorporate both the military and the "farmwife" silhouettes at the same time. Is the camo chiffon layered or patchwork? That's the one thing I can't quite tell.

By the way, I assume you heard about this news story?

Hey there :-)
The chiffon is layered and gathered to high heaven at the seam at the hip.
It's kind of hard to render chiffon layers in a printed fabric and still get the sheerness I wanted on the legs...
I'll check out the story :-)
